A flagship institution and attainable housing elevate a historic corridor.
The historic 22nd Street South corridor, the Deuces, was once a thriving main street of Black life in St. Petersburg when the city was racially segregated. Like many legacy communities across the United States, the community was bifurcated by an interstate highway and experience waves of middle-class flight of resident entrepreneurs across decades. While disinvestment continued across decades, a group of visionaries has emerged to reclaim the corridor for progress, led in part by the Pinellas County Urban League.
The Pinellas County Urban League aims to enable and empower African Americans to achieve their highest human potential and secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights.

The new 21,000 SF proposal includes administrative offices for PCUL executives and program managers, classrooms and conference space for community events and collaborations, and 12 attainably price apartment units on upper floors.
